I’m not attacking the young lad, he was no worse than the rest of the squad, but it turns out he wasn’t the saviour our squad desperately needed as some people were making out. We look to have no attacking threats.

Not sure anyone thought he was the saviour, just better than Briscoe.

Don’t think people were expecting him to be a ‘saviour’ , as this is a team game. We were just saying that we are clueless and the only hope is that we build again from ground zero with talented youngsters. I’d prefer to see Johnson, Broadbent, Tindall , Gannon play than some of the other incumbents. And I don’t judge players on one game either……you sound pleased to condemn a young player…!

Not at all condemning him, I just don’t agree with the narrative of throwing all the youngsters in at the deep end together when times are tough, no doubt if that did happen after a game or 2 the fans calling for them to be selected would write them off.

Walker, Tindall, Broadbent, Holroyd, Johnson, Gannon and others are promising young players but they shouldn’t all be in the Leeds first team week in week out yet.

As already stated, Broadbent was never labelled the saviour by anyone, just a good young centre who deserves a chance, both, because the incumbents were useless and we need to find out what we'v got with him, at first team level, in his best position. Pretty stupid OP in all honesty.

Its always hard for a youngster to shine in a rubbish team. In a good team their mistakes would be covered and not stand out, and as a centre Broadbent would get quality ball instead of slow passes and expected to 'do something'. What we do know is that Briscoe is simply not a centre and Sutcliffe is about as average as they come. Broadbent has the potential to get better - Briscoe's in his last season and Sutcliffe shouldn't even be at the club.

Looking at Wigan's reserves there are a fair few who could do a decent job if called up individually. With us its a vicious cycle of no experience, not getting picked, thrown into a chaotic mess followed by being dropped and continuing to be seen as still having no experience.

To be honest Gannon is better than both Mellor and Martyn.

He will learn from games like this and has time on his side.
Playing older players on their way out doesn't help with rebuilding. We need a balance for sure but CJ and JB should be getting more chances/ game time than they have, especially given the underperforming players / injuries / bans

We have the makings of a good side with the juniors we have coming through. Walker, Tindall, Newman, Broadbent, Handley, Edwards and Simpson in the backs, and then Oledzki, Johnson, Holroyd, Gannon, Walters and Smith in the forwards. A bit further back down the production line you’ve got young Sinfield and others, so it’s not like we have to completely start again, we need a coach who can bring these players through over the next 3 years or so, such that we’re back to complementing a young homegrown team with quality British players and even better quality Overseas players.

We’ve wandered so far from what made us successful it’s beyond a joke, but we can get back there again with the right changes.

It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.
