Schofield was brilliant that game, the chip and chase for Offiah's try had the Aussies bemused and what a game that was. I don't see us within 50 points of them now, if they pick their best 17, probably even their next best 17. The gulf in class between us now is probably as wide as it was in 82 when the Invincibles came over and rewrote RL history, in my opinion as an avid fan of the NRL.
Since arriving in 1968 I have been to all matches here in the Ashes series and my favourite was the first in 1970. It was the last time GB won an Ashes series and the side was coached by our own Johnny Whiteley. Having been hammered in a brutal opener in Brisbane we won the next 2 before crowds of 60,000 at the SCG with Roger Millward and big Cliff Watson my favourites in the series win.
In a bit of trivia my namesake was in the team for the 2 wins.
