Had little to do with the "Aussies" until the Promoters got the Auckland City Council to agree (in principle) to supporting the event financially.....that's when the ARL decided it would be worth a try, once they had assurances regarding "costs" of getting clubs to the event were being covered.
The Auckland council are happily claiming 6k Aussies visiting for the comp which covers their investment and justifies it.....it's a win-win situation that the criminal element can't claim any credit for.
