Don't mind a bit of biff and the shoulder to shouder charge was always part of the game. The problem over the decade or more is that the impacts are more substantial bigger players muscle on muscle at higher speeds with 2 or 3 men tacklers.
Pre Superleague it was on slower muddy pitches and forwards carried more blubber so the impacts were less severe and more sustainable.

Don't know what Gale was thinking of was he having an Eric Cantona moment.

Cantona's was a deliberate attack on someone.

Gale's was in no way malicious or deliberate. Just stupid and clumsy.

I think Kendall asked the video ref if he thought it was deliberate to conclude that is a red card, otherwise it would have been a yellow.

The disciplinary will have more time to judge it and Gale will hope it will be deemed as a reckless challenge without intent to injure. What will be looked at is how Gale man handled and hauled a potential injured player onto his feet to try and avoid the ref looking back at the incident, Gale will be asked to explain that.

As you know Lomax is one of the toughest players around and doesn't go down too easy, can't see Lomax faking it maybe its something Gale would do.

I agree with your point in general about the game getting softer, but not with your example about Gale. I was rooting for Hull in that game, but the Gale incident was a definite red card. You simply can't do that, and never could.

Gale may have stayed on if there hadn't been a VR but, there is no doubt it was the correct decision.
How is Lomax btw, he didnt play for much of the game ?

Looks like Mr Gale could be missing a few games and that the disciplinary doesn't totally agree with the op.

No you dont.

Currently you are allowed to attack the knee flush, with the intent of pushing it backwards. Jones and Anderson Silva utilise this move all the time

There are calls for it be banned but its not yet
