A really strong defensive display from our lads under intense pressure from a Wakey side almost at full strength, we’ve got a few lads coming through at last, Wynne will keep Carlos and Griff on their toes, glad it’s one from one, and not the predicted 0/3 as a few thought, great following from the very best away supporters in the league.

Thought we’d blown it when Jake was carded, never saw what happened at the time, hope it’s just another rubbish decision, great team performance.

Got to agree with the ref comment, he reacted whenever the Wakey players appealed or if the crowd did and some of their players played up to it, Pitts and Gaskell in particular. The facilities at that ground though do leave a lot to be desired, I was talking to two lads who'd queued for 40 minutes to get a pint, only to be told it was cash only payments, which they'd neglected to bring and to say they were angry is putting it mildly! I think we showed great character at the end and the player who really stood out was Sao, despite the early high shots, which were nothing really, he was mighty carrying and defending and was the pick of the bunch for me.

Watching the highlights video it seems like the hit on McIntosh was more direct to head then what Jake did. At the very least he ended up high so should have been an 8 point try for penalty in the act of scoring. No excuse for officials missing incidents like that.
Jake shouldn't have even had to make that tackle. Should have been blown immediately as a forward pass.

Watched the highlights and at real time (which is all the ref has), the Connor tackle looks bad, although nowhere near as bad as the other two signings off, so I think a yellow would be fair, should really be SOS, but I'd be amazed if that happens.

A nice stat to read is that even in those conditions we made the least errors of any team this weekend with 3. As a contrast, Rovers made the most errors with 16.

Unfortunately we gave away the most penalties with 11. It's a good job our defence was strong and we were only playing Wakey.

A penalty count like that plus the multiple restarts we conceded against Sts will see us get a good hiding. Need to improve.

I know discipline has been a big issue for us for the past few seasons at least but in all honesty I really didn't think we were that bad and thought Griffiths was a little one sided in his officiating. One example of this was the penalty given against Ligi when trying to get a quick ptb yet two Wakefield players kept hold of him and as players do they try to shake free and as he did a Wakey player fell over and Ligi got penalised yet Griffiths ignored the Wakey players refusing to release Ligi when stood and trying to ptb. Another example was the direct contact to the head of McIntosh in scoring his try yet nothing whatsoever given. We seemed to get pinged for minor interferences at the ptb while Wakey were no better but got very little given against them. On a side note what disappointed me more from Wakefield was the constant arm waving to the officials which is not something I've associated with a Wakefield side before.

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Would like to see that last Wakefield try closer, looked dodgy on the highlights. Great win going into Saturday

Try was perfectly good. Just another TJ special. Over the years I’ve always questioned how he gets them down but I don’t bother anymore as his awareness of his body positioning is first rate.

As for the game. I’m not happy with the result obviously but the game itself was reasonably entertaining for a first hit out. I thought it a shame we couldn’t make the extra man count as when Gaskell came off we couldn’t replace and it was 12 v 12.

No complaints though and it’s one that just got away but there’s plenty of positives for my team. We just need to work a bit on the attack and breaking down teams close to the line.

There was a lot of good defence from both teams today and ultimately a single dummy sold by the hull player was the difference.

Top six 2005 - Trinity.

Full game is on FC Live to watch now.

Do existing/renewing members get fc live for free?

Everytime I log in it keeps asking me to purchase the game. Do I need a discount code to enter?

I’m sure all renewing members get it free, same deal as last year. I just logged in and it’s available to me. If your having problems, contact the shop at MKM, they pretty good with this sort of enquiry or email them.
