Nowhere near as good a game in terms of standard, errors and fatigue everywhere, but I guess it depends what you are looking for. Hull KR looked way off the pace tonight. I'm hoping it was them not being ready for the season rather than a sign they're going to drop away this season. They were one of the highlights of the season last year, we could do without them becoming another pointless also-ran.
Wigan were more inventive than the garbage they served up throughout last season but they weren't great. Their squad still seems unbalanced to me, but will at least have some threat through sheer pace this season. I think they will be top 4 this year, despite most predicting the big two, Leeds and Wire to be above them. Their discipline is awful, a proper referee tonight and they'd have been flogged with six agains and yellow cards. They're still playing the hard man act, but with such puny forwards it's difficult to see that working against the better sides. They would be far better just being disciplined in defense and playing it very quick in attack, why put yourself under so much unecessary pressure?
Sky's coverage the worst aspect though. Whoever sanctioned JJB doing the interviews needs sacking. You don't have to give every popular retired player a cushy job, he has zero media skill and just finishes off the headache 'Baz' and the awful commentator give you throughout the game. Can't wait for channel 4.
