In other news Towns game were called off today. I know its going to kick up some arguments because what is not playable for them is likely still going to be playable for us.

I fail to see where their comments were /are objective but contradictory .
Thank you for your viewpoint even though it disagrees with mine.

I am one of the posters who was and still is happy with Lachlan's signing but i would leave him out of the side for sunday. And that is based on the 2 preseason games and the game against batley. I just think that zak as done that bit better especially bringing the ball out of yardage that is not Lachlan's strengths he is a finisher and as greg said we have not been getting quality ball to our wingers as yet. We blew 3 tries on sunday by Arundel twice not passing to salty when he was wide open close to the line and barber blew one not passing to Arundel. Hopefully given time and allowing for the side to gel Lachlan will score plenty of tries this season. Finally i would say that a far few need better games on sunday or risk being dropped expectations are high and we could do with a good start to the season.

@Terry Silver, you make very good reasons for your choice to leave LW out of the 17, rather than taking the negative you validate your reasons with clarity. Things to be worked on in training and with a full squad, as I remarked in an earlier post sometimes it takes time to gel.

My Humble Opinion Only - let the knockers begin.

It's a bit late for a good start isn't it? I do however agree that the team as a whole need to step up after last week's awful 2nd half. It is still early days though and I predict a comfortable win today to kick start our season. Up The Fax!

Impossible to be too critical when you consider the appalling conditions - especially in the first half. Defence good throughout, and in the last quarter they scored some good tries especially the tip on from Aston. Team selection was bit surprising but sensible considering both form and the very heavy pitch. Although hard to read too much into today I feel Aston and Keyes looks our strongest half back combination , Barber a constant threat at centre, although for second week running bit underwhelmed by Arundel. Gwaze ran and defended very strongly; a lousy day to play fullback but thought Martin was very solid.

I was surprise the score at the end of the game considering the first half. I thought we looked slow and didn’t make any ground. I think our last 4 or 5 sets before half time we never made it to halfway.
However we ground down London who never really worried our defensive line. Once they began to tire we were making decent half breaks and ultimately got 4 second half tries. There several times Barber should have passed with May have resulted in another double of tries but he seemed to cut inside and try it himself. Let’s see what Widnes bring.

Both teams were poor in the 1st half , low completion rates from both sides but the weather probably accounted for most of that . About 60 mins in London started to tire after being repeatedly battered by some outstanding forward play , Kavanagh, gwaze ,calcott , Fairbank putting in some big stints supplemented by some good territorial kicks grinding London to the ground. Aston and Keyes linked up well and barber played well . It was quite interesting to see jouffret, walmsey , worthington, woodburn hall , gee , Morris sat behind us , overheard worthington has broke a bone in his foot , woodburn hall out for another 4 weeks , walmsey, jouffret Morris all apparently singled out from last week’s performance unless injured as well .

Widnes is a massive game next week and fax will have to go up a level for that one .

Overall a solid performance with some improved individual performances . Aston for me is the better long term investment . Never been a fan or Arundel who always had the potential but can grix improve him . More of a team effort to grid down london on a miserable day weather wise .

Well with the atrocious weather conditions today's game was never going to top the entertainment charts for free flowing rugby.
What winter rugby does ask is can we dig in, grind out the result and eventually get on top of the opposition and in those areas it was up there with the best of our efforts.
The pack had some good performances in there, the backs were steady with some nice moves from the halves when they finally got the field position and the goal line defense held up well.

Not sure why LW was singled out for the defeat at batley as were others who performed far worse. Joe did nothing wrong but not sure if would prefer him or joufret at number 1. Bit off that main new signings did not play
