Welp, that was utterly awful. Awful weather (I can not feel my toes still), awful attitude from the bulls, Odsal looks awful, crowd numbers (unsurprisingly) awful. It was just awful. I cannot think of anything good to take from today. It was dire. I suppose the only good thing to take from it was that it was Sheffield: had it been a better team we world have been thoroughly hammered. Is that a good thing? On second thoughts, no...

Was it a case of poor attitude? Or a case of not playing the conditions? On the radio it sounded like effort was there just very poor in game management and playing the conditions (which in still inexcusable in my eyes).
Very poor result. Expected a win here. Can't see us beating Leigh on Monday. But I hope we beat Barrow and Batley at home followed by another tough test away at Workington.
What's up with Scott? Why isn't he playing at all at the moment?

About as bad as it gets. The decision to take the 2 after spending 25 mins in our own 20 metre area has to be the worst call by a coach I've ever seen. The only other time in the half we'd been in Sheffield's half we'd scored and he decides to put us back on our own goal line where we'd failed to come out of for the previous hour.
There were sets of six today where our defensive line did not advance at all. Just stood, passively. Pleased for the lads Kear let go but it's past time he followed them.

This type of result is precisely why we are still miles off challenging the top couple of teams in the league. Hugely disappointing opening home game against a fairly ordinary Sheffield outfit.
Early signs suggest it will be a similar season to last year.
As much as I like Kear I am begining to doubt his antiquated coaching methods. Very rarely any attempt for a repeat set, he would rather turn ball over in oppositions 10. His strong point has always been motivation but that effort today was woefull. Terrible line speed, no kicking game and no depth to our attack, just passing the ball flat along the line. We missed a real opportunity today to build some momentum but failed again.
I can't think of a more classic Bradford response to last week's win. Let's be clear, Sheffield are mid table dross. The question is was it last week that was the anomaly or this week? Because it might well be that we are mid table dross too.

Thoroughly outplayed in every department for about 65mins. Sheffield looked miles fitter, faster, better organised and more enthusiastic. Some awful decision making from us, passive defence, poor kick and chase.
Positives are hard to think of. Plenty of effort from Miller and DFJ. That's about it. The fitness is a big concern of mine as was the lack of enthusiasm. We lost the arm wrestle and that meant we lost the energy battle. Well played Sheffield.
