I don't think there is any surprise in this result. Its a long season ahead

How many attended was it announced?

So first time watching a Rugby League match live. I noticed some of the new players weren't playing, particularly Siti and Wellington. I thought the Broncos would have shown some presence in the stadium, a programme, merchandise or simply info on the players or a little bit about the rules and general expectation of player positions. Remember a lot of the crowd would know very little and it's one of the easiest ways to get them engaged.

I did rather feel the Broncos were handed everything on a plate by AFC Wimbledon such as the street food, pub etc. I was hoping to get a Broncos feel, certainly in the areas the football club would allow them to. At one point I referred to the team as Wimbledon and I really feel that was because nothing "Broncos" was being thrown at me. Ignoring the constraints of the agreement with AFC Wimbledon and that the football club were obligated to provide certain things, I felt the Broncos missed an opportunity.

AFC Wimbledon ladies produce a simple programme but it really helps to get a feel of the individual players plus getting a few short informative articles. Honestly if there was some written material about the club (definitely) or the sport (probably) I would have bought it.

Really need a competitive game, but it was obvious it was over within 15 minutes. At half time I thought this was a bad outcome with so many newcomers present. Actually the second half I enjoyed way more. Widnes were still superior, but would have created a greater atmosphere if the teams were all square at half time.

I'll go back, but I do worry about how many others will. The reality is the pricing won't help and certainly won't attract family's unless offers for kids are introduced (which may well happen of course). The biggest issue will be a competitive team. From what I can tell, a match with Widnes needed to be exactly that. There are some likely hammerings to come from the big teams.

Thank you for posting that. Interesting to see a newcomers take on it. I hope the club read it.

Interesting to see the perspective of someone attending their first game. David Hughes must have been attracted by the opportunity to piggy back on the efforts of the host in their new stadium. We have even taken the colours !! However, it is a shame if an effort wan't made to explain the game to newcomers. As you (and others on here) have said, the key to gaining fans will be a competitive team but we have what looks like the weakest squad in our history. Widnes could probably see the game was won after 20 minutes.

Gus Mackay we salute you!!

This. Been saying this since move was announced last year, and since decision to move to part-time. But its too late, damage is done. If we are at 1K attendance by July be lucky. People go to sport stadiums for the sport not for the stadium, and if the sport offering is not enticing, then they are not coming back, no matter how super the stadium is,

Question is how long will it take DH to see he is paying 250K a year for a white elephant, which is what is going to happen with teh squad we have

Just got back. Surprised response is so restrained but most on here did feel the excess of L1 players would lead to L1 team and so it proved. Widnes competent but nothing special- kicker very rusty. I thought Williams and Juma (who?) showed some endeavour, Parata looks like he may be a player and Bienek looked good but a little leggy. Overall it was L1 players doing their best.

Just a word on the game announcer LB management paid for.We all had a good natured laugh at the guy volunteering last year but I was actually able to make out who was playing and who scored. I couldn’t make out a word with this guy. His microphone needs sorting and he needs to slow down and take a breath when announcing the team.

If we don’t bring in some Championship standard players we will be entirely reliant on Rams, Workington and Eagles imploding. That was by no means a good advert for the London game.
In the words of Stan Lee-“Nuff said” although Nan on The Catherine Tate show might had had a coarser but more accurate turn of phrase.

Most probably because it was nothing less than expected.

Nan from the Catherine Tate show might be worth playing.

Given that Merton Council gave the go ahead back in July, they have no excuse for not having a programme with rules & player profiles for a whole new audience available.
