Let's be clear both those on the left and right of the political divide are utterly certain the BBC are biased to the opposite side. In fact both political spectrums would argue the BBC are institutionally skewed against them. Someone is wrong, or is it that both are correct?.

For me the reason everyone thinks the BBC is biased against them, is that the BBC pursue a craven policy of neutrality even when there are issues that cannot objectively be given equal weight. Off the top of my head, things like Brexit and Israel. Their near pathological obsession with not taking sides leads to disastrously misjudging their editorial stance. If you are left or right you'll have a juicy example of the BBC bias against you. The BBC are in quite a predicament.

De Pfeffel excuse was that he was not told the gathering on the 20/05/2020 was illegal. I thought he was the one who came up with the restrictions so you would think he had some idea.

Almost painful to watch Johnson be interviewed by Beth Rigby. Everybody knows he’s a liar caught in an embarrassing lie, hoping that he’ll get a procedural and short-memories pass and gradually realising it ain’t as likely as he thought. He’s ridden his narcissistic, ‘I’m exceptional’ philosophy all the way to the top, pushing it so far that he assumed it had no bounds (I was starting to wonder!) and suddenly it isn’t working.

For those posters with a more generous view of Johnson and Cummings, which of them do you tend to believe in this situation?

'Thus I am tormented by my curiosity and humbled by my ignorance.' from History of an Old Bramin, The New York Mirror (A Weekly Journal Devoted to Literature and the Fine Arts), February 16th 1833.

Tbf to Cummings, he should have been finished after his jolly to Durham and Barnard Castle.
The fact that he was allowed to carry on seemed to indicate that, for whatever reason, Boris needed him close by.
Some though thet it may have been his vision and ideas that kept him in his post but, it seems more likely that he had too much info about his boss and this would certainly seem to be the case now.
As for Boris "not knowing" that the gathering was against the rules and possibly breaking the law, really??
It's staggering that he believes this may count as some kind of defence and does he always take his wife to "business meetings", it beggars belief and quite rightly, nobody (aside from his nodding dog ministers) is letting him off the hook.
He has been "mis-speaking" for all of his tenure at No 10 and after so many let offs with "it's just how he is", hopefully, the lying PM will get his marching orders, although, I'd be happy for him to mortally would his party first. :D

I suppose the difference was, she knew she had been to a party, Bojo, probably doesn't think its a party unless he's got lucky.

The problem is de Pfeffel only allows one reporter to ask the questions for all media outlets. I guess he can’t manage multiple reporters asking questions which when you listen to his performance today makes sense because he just dug a deeper hole.
She may not be squeaky clean but you would think the man who supposedly set the restrictions would know if he was breaking them without being told.

I think someone should tell Sunak that if you are rushing out of an interview take the microphone off because it just increases the belief that you are avoiding questions.

It's fair to say that many of the people fined or sacked for breaching covid rules weren't specifically told that they would be in breach of the rules either.
EVERYONE was/is supposed to keep up with the changes, any you would think the guy at "party central" would know what was what.
Mind you its "just his way" and "he's always been like that"

Ironic that a few weeks ago he was babbling about Peppa Pig and now she's out for revenge, in a "pork pie plot". Poor Peppa but, worth the sacrifice :D
