Sam is still the man of steel so he must be the best player in superleague not Knowles who is not as good as Walmsley but arguably the best player ,go figure that one out.

If you put Sam into the Saints team he wouldn’t win the title Man of Steal, he would game after game share those MOS points amongst 4 or 5 other quality Saints players.
You could say he is the best player for Catalans in most games hence his points accrual, still a very talented rugby player though.

Great news for the back to back to back champions. He had offers from a number of top NRL teams so I can only assume recently starting a family swung it in favour of St Helens.

Not sure the MOS is always a good indication of the best player in the league, Jordan Abdull isn't in the top 5 for example, but Sam would be up there if you were doing a list.

Knowles is probably the best 13 as our resident troll says, but he certainly isn't the best player.

The MOS is a joke these days.

Abdull was a good shout also thought Connor would have had a chance as well.

The problem with the award is that the points are a bit lob sided to a winning team, Abdull and Connor have played their socks off in teams that have struggled at times and have lost 50% of their games and most of the max MOS points have gone to the winning side.

Tomkins is a very talented player in a side that have won most of their games and doesn't have any consistent challengers in his own team. As I mentioned earlier in the thread our Lomax got in the top 3 (MOS) but sometimes couldn't pick up maximum points because quite often Coote, Knowles, Walmsley, Welsby, Roby etc would take points off him.

so lets get rid of the man of steel but keep it if it is a saints player.

He’s right in what he’s saying. It’s easy for a half decent player to stand out in a garbage team and wrack up MOS points.

For example. Abdul finished as supposedly one of the top 5 players in SL. He’s not even on the top 13 best St Helens players.

That’s how flawed it is
