Exactly, I'd rather have Gale for a year than give Sneyd a 3 year deal, Gales definitely a more attacking player if fit, but if he isnt than Hookem gets some gametime.
Hodgson can already see the areas of weakness in the squad and is doing his best to sort it our which is tough this late.

Do you realistically think FC could get Gale and Hampshire and only pay Sneyd’s salary? Either Sneyd was almost on a marque wage or Gale and Hampshire would be playing for peanuts.

Gale’s 33, IF he signs, it won’t be a big contract, probably his last Super League one and a skills coach for Hookem. Hampshire has knocked Wakey’s offer back, certainly won’t have been a big deal so feasibly, yes, both deals could be handled, especially if Bowden is off. It’s all ifs and buts and here say, anyway.

It doesn't follow that Sneyd's salary would be the same as the hypothetical Gale+Hampshire salaries. Surely even you understand that?
Other players have left and other players have signed. Some players will get an upgrade and other may take a cut for whatever reason.

Seems (if the Gale bit materialises) that it's beneficial for all parties. As others have said, you've got to take your hat off to BH, AP & JC in the way they've made things happen in a difficult situation.

Didn't see that one coming tbh. It certainly sounds like it was a mutually beneficial arrangement. The implication is that he knew his contract wouldn't be extended so a long deal at Salford suits both parties. I wish him well, an integral part of those CC winning sides. A key part of all the big moments in our first win at Wembley. Probably the right time for a change though. Interesting times.

Gale had another year on his contract at Leeds didn’t he? He would be unlikely to sign a one year contact with FC for less than he would be getting by seeing out his contract.

Why not? Perhaps he wants a guaranteed 1st team spot. A much better position to earn a new contract from than fighting it out with Sezer and Austin.
