The game is struggling financially and a few hundred extra bums on seats once per season isn't going to rescue clubs that are struggling. We need to attract bigger sponsors and better TV deals and getting clubs like Toulouse in SL is one way to help achieve that. It opens us up to French TV offering more for the rights to broadcast games. Sponsors will see opportunity that just isn't there with yet another M62 team. Yes there are negatives in the short term, but if we aren't trying to grow the game and reach out to new areas we are eventually going to regress to a part time sport again. I hope Toulouse thrive and grow.

I seem to remember all the same pomp and circumstance with Toronto, they were going to open up the North American advertising market. I hope it doesn’t end in tears again just like Gay Paris, the original European part of SLE.

Totally different, PSG was a new club in an area with no real connection to rugby league. Toulouse on the other hand were formed in 1937.

I think the Catalans had major problems in 20/20 and 20/21 negotiating their own tv broadcasting deals in France, in fact in their historic grand final year, some of their games were not televised at all. Hopefully the promotion of Toulouse will add more weight to new broadcasting deals for both teams.
