Premier Sports to become exclusive home of Monday Night Rugby League

The Betfred Championship will have a new home from 2022, as the RFL today confirms an extensive and exciting two-year broadcast partnership with Premier Sports.
Under the partnership, Premier Sports will provide live and exclusive coverage from the start of the season in early 2022 to the Play-Offs in the autumn culminating in the Million Pound Game – and including every match of the Summer Bash featuring all 14 clubs in a single venue on the same weekend.
Subscription currently costs £12.99 a month and Premier Sports is available across a range of platforms, including online.

Whilst promotion of the game is a good thing, is there any cash in it for the clubs?

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs, the people that came in. They're eating the cats! They're eating the pets!

Yes a "Six figure sum" has been reported so a minimum of £100,000 to be shared but hopefully a lot more.

Possibly you should wait to see. Before using your calculator. The fact they are investing rather than taking something for free is a bonus to the sport.

Only rugby league would see someone paying an absolute pittance as a win

Your comment carries no weight with me. Your alliance obviously doesn’t sit in this game. Possibly try another forum that will.

Going head to head against Monday night premier league football till soccer season ends. That's a brave decision for sure!

Likely that any dividends from the Premier Sports share in Monday night R.L will be lost or more than lost in none attendance at the stadium gates !!! There's enough don't like Thursday night's & Monday night's up against Premier League football is a loser !

There's an interesting article regarding RU Premiership attendances being down over their opening weekends, plus the loss of their Ch5 highlights programme.

Seems no matter how passionate a supporter base might feel, it just doesn't grasp a wider viewing audience in significant numbers, and therefore, in context with Championship RL, you can see how hard it might be to squeeze much money out of a broadcasting deal:
