I guess this doesn't count then......
Quote:Shenton has been learning his trade from mentor Darrell Powell at Castleford, where the 35-year-old has been heavily involved in several aspects of the Tigers’ coaching in recent years under the stewardship of the former Super League Coach of the Year.
His contribution included overseeing training sessions, match previews and video reviews – and was recently seen running the yellow coach’s jersey at first-team games whilst injured.
Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

I think it's a fair questions, what experience does he has at academy coaching, he may have coaching experience with the first team, but I would have rather have someone who has coached at that level before and has a track reckon of developing players.
It might work out, but it looks like another gamble.
Shenton's experience at Cas and Saints cannot be questioned. Good to have some fresh ideas from outside the club.
I agree, the appointment of Shenny as head of emerging talent, shows we are at last taking the development of our youth seriously, hopefully this could be a master stroke, perhaps without relevant coaching badges yet, but with so much experience, knowledge of the game, this former dream team, international has worked with some of the best, this appointment shows some innovation to me.
Welcome Shenny and good luck.
