Lasted longer than I thought he would but has been let go by Salford in the last 24 hours. Huge footsteps to fill in Ian Watson and the signs were already there at Fax that he probably is not cut out for a No. 1 job but sounds like he is a great assistant where he is not responsible for having to make ruthless decisions or deal with discipline problems.

Not surprised by this. He did o.k. at Fax and I know a lot of people will say he did more than o.k. I just felt that he was more suited to an assistant coach role and he was eventually found out. He deserved a go at Salford but was always going to find it very hard to follow Ian Watson, who I'm very surprised hasn't done better in his first season at shuddersfield.

To be fair Marshall did make a very average fax far better. grix has had an above average squad but I haven't seen vast improvement, current end of season performance against a whitehaven team built on a shoestring budget may be very telling indeed

I thought we flattered to decieve to be honest. Bind loyalty to players that should have been moved on and under performance on the pitch were the things that ultimatley lost him his job.
Regards this season, yes its very disappointing how we are going to end the season and I think that is because we did so well to find ourselves in 3rd but then to basically limp over the finish line and not bring any players in which has left us threadbare and no real hope of competing against the top two. If not bringing players in this season when realistically we had to produce a miracle of beating both Fev and Toulouse to get promoted but instead saving that money to bring the players we have for next season then yeah its disappointing for this season but things look promising next.
It would be interesting to hear what you think our place in the budget rankings were this season though if we are going to say that Haven have over achieved which I think they have. I would put us about 7th behind Fev, Toulouse, Bradford, London, York, and Widnes. What you reckon? If thats the case we have over achieved ourselves and explains why Grix is up for coach of the year(Which has to go to the Haven coach imo).

Well having gifted us Gadwin, Grix certainly gets my vote Seriously, yes it should be Charlton by a landslide, with Lingard next by a similar margin.

How was he doing before his injury? I thought it were fair of Grix to let him play against us even if it did come back to haunt us a bit, I think he had a part to play in at least 3 of your tries.

Whitehaven for coach of the year by a calland country mile , only they and batley in my view have over performed. End of season form for fax takes the gloss off the season to show a flat line in performance.. personally I thought there was a chance to strengthen and compete with the top2 on the winning run but it was allowed to fizzle out like a firework running out of contents. Obviously I dont know the discussions but planning for next year is a reasonable game plan if it works out

Aye, I can definitely see the thinking behind that reasoning. But as a supporter who is just about to get his fossil bus pass, the more I hear we are building for next season the more I think let's get on with it then. Up The Fax ❗

He was going very well. I was kind of assuming he might be a bit lazy or something given the circumstances in which he left Fax but his work rate seemed very good, he was taking the ball in repeatedly, nothing flash but attracting plenty of tacklers and helping wear the opposition defence down, and his defence was very solid too.

Always liked him here and thought he went great against us at PO road.Particularly the slip pass that lead to Chisolms brilliant try.Whatever Grix had against him wasn't reflected in his performances here and his time on the pitch was down to Grix anyway.Hope this was a one off as we will have a lot of good players here next season all being well and Grix will have a lot of egos to manage.
