Where do we go now with the coaching? Stick with Hodgson or get rid before it can get any worse?
I wasnt all that impressed when he was announced as hes basically an untried assistant (yet again) but then I decided to give him a chance.
Hes basically playing with the same staff as Andy Last had at his disposal at the end of last season but the results and performances are appalling. We waited years for Radford to get his team and tasted brief success - do we have to do this again with Hodgson?
Or do we go bring in an old head to steady the ship as i dont think any signings of any calibre will make the fans enthusiastic for next season if we just think its gonna be more dross like this season?
I honestly don't know what is best. If we get rid and find someone more experienced, that could take 6 weeks, and then recruitment is harder, so the new coach is doing what BH is doing this year and coaching someone else's squad
The problem was he was appointed so late, last week in November.
I've said before, Radford has already been plannining for next year since April, same as Powell at Warrington. They've both been able to shape their squad and backroom staff and of course are based over here.
Hodgson arrived in December, signed one player and we then went into a pre-season lockdown.
He does come across as mild mannered which has echoes of Peter Gentle. I've no idea how he gets on with the players but for anyone to suggest we get rid is absolute nonsense,
After the way the same players started the season with passion and pride obviously instilled by a new Coach you have to wonder watching us of late and listening to his pre match hype if the same coach has lost the players!

He talks tonight about bringing in new players and mentions "quality players" that's what I want to hear so I'm happy to take his word for it and give him a chance.
I think most agree that it's more a lack of on field leadership rather than off-field leadership where we're lacking right now.

Jury very much out for me, clearly an intelligent, well spoken bloke and a top player. But he seems quiet and mild mannered and that maybe isn't what is needed right now.
No coach in the world is going to turn these lazy, past it players into world beaters but in a year of very poor standards in SL we should have still made the 6.
It's a case of the coach asking for high standards when faced with adversity, and the playing group wrapping it in, how you blame the coach strewth only knows after the Radford era............

He mentions quality players, and then the 2 names mentioned this week are Scurr and Joe Wardle. Hopefully that's the depth, and the rumours of the quality will start this week.
Hopefully Fonua and Reynolds can be moved on and then 400k comes available and 2 quota spots
