Afghanistan certainly is done but, it will be the Russians, Chinese and others that decide it's future, not the Afghan people. As for Britains colonial past, there will always be issues if we try and compare the actions of 150+ years ago with how we try to behave these days although, some people do seem to think that Britain still rules the world but, we are a little way down the pecking order.

We are, and that's why it's a positive that we aren't in Afghanistan any longer.
Personally, i think the Yanks left all that gear behind for the Taliban in order them to be able to fight any future incursions from any number of America's 'enemies'. Nobody could botch a withdrawal that badly on purpose.
