We've had him on loan/DR haven't we? Didn't pull up any trees if I recall correctly.

He was supposed to play for us against Widnes away when we were in that unmentionable arrangement with Cas but Powell pulled him on the day of the game, other than that?

No wonder I wasn't impressed with him.

What’s frustrating is the mixed messaging regarding transfers , one interview and we were actively seeking a replacement for gadwin springer the next one we’re gonna have to manage the squad properly in the run in to the end of the season because the rfl are big on the integrity of the sport as regards loanees and playoffs etc but then when you read the terms of the loan conditions you can get a loan right up to the end of the season.

There’s no consistency in what’s been said .

Regardless there’ll be a greater financial incentive in finishing 3rd so you would think that would be our aim , we must have funds available with springer and brearley off the payroll ( don’t know what the financial situation is with loanees Hewitt and bourouh)

Fev announcing new signings shows that there are players available so maybe it is just a case of us calling it a do with this season because the squad as it stands has no chance of going to Fev and winning and may even struggle to clinch 3rd without adding a couple of players. I guess its also possible that Springer was just a cost cutting measure and there is no money available, if the club had budgeted for our normal average crowds on the return after covid then there would be quite a big hole to fill.

I cant see anyone budgeting on past crowds because it just wasnt going to happen . The reality of current attendance does make you question if it's still a viable business for many clubs to carry on .

I bet most teams presumed that people would come flocking back because they had missed it. Like you say though there is still a large portion of the crowd that have never returned.

There's a few reasons for the low crowds, the primary one being the appalling way the game is being run by the RFL/SL. Then there's people who are still unsure of crowds due to the virus, those who have just got out of the rl habit, those fed up with unnecessary rules and regulations and a general apathy towards rugby league which brings us back to those running the game. It will be interesting to see what sort of crowd The Shaymen get for their first game back tomorrow. Up The Fax! :thumb:
