The RL press and to a certain extent forums like this stifled debate a few years back because some posters were banging on about where we were heading as a game....Low and behold, the population of those forums like the sales of the publications has shrunk whilst those doomongers were shown to be bang on the money.

The FACTS as they are now is that SL doesn't generate either the income nor the talent for 12 teams. As a result, there's a movement to further reduce the top tier, ring fence the money and grab the decent players from the 2022 relegated teams to make the 10 slightly better than now.

The result (IN MY OPINION) will be the Top Ten XIII or some other bullcrap name, with 5 games shown Wednesday to Friday LIVE on SKY sports when they've nothing else to show....the fans won't attend on work nights because "it's too bus rides away" and the game in the UK will vanish up its own 'arris inside a decade. I would love to be wrong.......but.

Further retrenchment of the game will only result in greater reduction of tv money so you may well be right. Rugby League is without doubt a 3rd World sport.

For far too long now the wrong people have been running the game, the current head of RFL and the last were simply not good enough, all they do is pocket high salaries. Does not also help owners having so much power, or with Leeds a CEO, they will always have the interest of there club before the sport.

Just don't know how much long we can stay professional? talk last night that running a 5 or 7 side leagues, will be more attractive, thankfully last Saturday The Lion did us a favour with the most boring game ever, 90 minutes game of two halfs, taking 2 hours lol The referee killed the idea of TMO!

Now Castleford suggest Scrap Reserve Grade, and instead 8 a side? make it exciting like the new games in Cricket!
