Well I just enjoy watching the best players in the world. If you love rugby league, I find it hard to understand (this current contretemps about the World Cup aside) why you wouldn't watch to watch James Tedesco, Tommy Turbo, Shaun Johnson, Jason Taumalolo...
The rules variations are a joke, but frankly theirs are better anyway. The SL ban (utterly pointless, IMO) on scrums is covid-related and supposed to be temporary.

Are they any better than their players of their past like Fiddler, Fulton, Andrew Johns, Kenny, Lewis, Miles, Sterling, etc, etc, etc.

I think not!
Unlike the modern players, I never watched Kenny, Johns, and Sterling etc week in and week out, although of course I've seen most of their most famous games. And the game has changed so much since their day that comparisons are pretty pointless. But if "best on the planet at the moment" isn't good enough for you...
I would certainly say that Tedesco, for start, is as good as any full-back who has ever played the game.

The past has a nostalgia attached to it and people tend to favourably remember players, focusing in their better games and forgetting the not so good ones.
SOL is a prime example. He was in the top tier of players in the world, players and coaches within the game only had good to say about him though fans continually put him down. In 10/20 years time he will be remembered as one of the greats.
