Gone on loan to North Wales Crusaders. Bit strange timing is this considering Keyes could be recalled at any moment leaving with just Brown as a make shift half. Neither Lilley or Brough are going to be back for a while.

That said it will be good for the lad to get some game time. He was playing really well for the reserves before covid struck last year, hes not played a game of rugby since, so it will be good for him just to play.

Suppose, if Kear didn't trust/fancy him against Oldham, even off the bench for some game time, then he's certainly not going to throw him in again Fev/Fax.

I think him getting game time is important, but maybe it should have been done earlier in the year when we had Brough/Lilley/Jowitt all fit then we could have used him now we just have an on loan player and a winger for play in the halves.

The only way to learn is by getting games under youre belt. Seems a good move for the club and for Matty.

It’s quite a smart move really, we use one week of a 2 week period when we haven’t got a game so if anymore injuries hit they are likely to be after his 2 week minimum term is over which allows us to recall him straightaway

You’ve jinxed it now. Keyes will get recalled and Race will get injured in his first loan outing

On another note, with us finally having some stability (ish) and it being the longest we've gone without going bust since the first time, we're finally getting the pathway for these young players and being able to get game time on loan or in the league below, to develop properly, instead of us having to use them as Canon fodder because we have no players.

Think we now have Bradley Ho at Coventry, Ethan O'Hanlon and Matty Race at Crusaders.

I think it's a good move, but it does beg the question as to why it didn't happen earlier - since it has become blindingly obvious that Kear isn't going to play him for us at the moment.
