Honkytonk wrote:Ml came on this forum to say there was big news that would show the direction the club is heading in. I must admit I got my hopes up. We started off by making a few decent signings, but lets be honest, the squad is avge for the champ. Its not a squad to challenge. Now maybe there is a plan, maybe it is to grow the squad over the next couple of years and then give it a go. Problem being any youngster that looks half decent will be snapped up. And if we do go PT then I just cant see how we build a strong enough squad
There is part of me that could even understand letting Ward go. If Ward stated he was not renewing his deal then yeah, move on and being someone in to get settled. The fact Ward did not want to renew should be of concern though.
The move, yeah it's a nice ground but playig confront of 300 wont work. Are we going to try an generate fans/interest. Are we going to try and build some bridges with the missing 1000s. Or are we gonna sit tight and hope some turn up and watch Londons best kept secret.
I've no doubt most on here will label me a constant moaner, tbh I can live with that. Am I really wrong in what I say?? The club does zero favours for itself. I beleive there is huge potential for the Broncos but it will not amount to anything unless the club has a long hard look in the mirror.
It's a sorry state of affairs. The club means a lot to alot ofmpeople but it seems the club does not seem to realise or care. its happy lumbering along to its death rather than swallowing some pride maybe and starting to get itself back to where it could be

Good post Honky & I agree with just about all of it apart from the huge potential you feel Broncos have. Sadly I believe they & rugby league as a whole have missed the boat where the future is concerned. Can you imagine the RFL/Super League relocating teams to minimise covid impact say to the west country? Naaa! Let's face it the tail wags the RL dog in England. Hope may spring eternal but it is hard to see any future for the game as a whole without major reconstruction.

Agree completely, heard last night the doubts still about this weekend;s Challenge Cup with Covid, but what did shock me, there were plans, if either the finalists had not been able to play, one of the beaten semi finalists would replace them?

York have wasted some money on pensioners. The so called super coach at York must be under pressure

Congratulations on a superb first win for the interim coach.

Thomas seems such a genuine humble Guy! and something really raised the level of yesterday, impresses me the youngsters are really developing! In the week the York media were really confident.

If criticism is fully deserved, I will accept it, yes PR especially because of my career, but when you announce you are leaving a ground, is it really if money is tight worth spending money, you need to save the money for the new ground launch. The delay in the move has not been down to the club.

None of us know what discussion took place, with Danny and The Club, I said last week, when players announce they are moving next season, so early, they should go!

I could be wrong, but normally York should have more travelling fans than Haven or Swinton, but as I did not go yesterday, can't comment on how many away fans attended (we did go to haven and swinton games).

But it was a great result, and I'm glad for the team that they have put the Fev shambles behind them

Other than a group in the away Directors area I saw two York fans.

To be honest I think the number of away fans turning up is small fry compared to the home support we appear to have lost.

I think Widnes and Newcastle will be a better judge of the current squad we have (which owing to injuries is weaker than what we put out vs these two teams earlier in the season). Win both of those, and at least the playoffs should be secured (either in 5th or 6th).

Could we beat Fax / Bradford in sept with some players back in a one off game, if we have players back yes I think we could win through the first round of the playoffs, but that would be as far as we can go. If Tom Tsang takes us that far he will have done well.

If we beat Widnes in two weeks, we should pretty much elimate them from the playoffs, so will be a big game

BTW it seems most of "our" loyal fans weren't missing as it has been stated the crowd was similar to the last few. It might be worth asking why the loyal support base is now that low rather than burning bridges with those who have had enough.

Given he lives in NZ I think Orangeman can explain his absence

Looking at the game on TV I think it must have been the lowest attedance of the season, both stands behind the posts had very few in them compared to other home games. There did not seem to be any/many York supporters.

The team had a great win and worked for each other. Shame those in the back office cannot admit they are clueless and shame they cant admit they were wrong to alienate fans I feel for the team playing in front of so few people but then I'm not welcome so cant add to the total.

We have about 250 supporters right now. We are hoping to get to Widnes in two weeks as its the final ticket of the 4 games offer, but thats only 3 of us.

We can't get to wimbledon for other reasons I have posted before, but I am hoping the three of us can get to Widnes game

I'm in the same boat as Crashmom. I missed Whitehaven because of my car being off the road but my wife, son and I have got to Ealing for games. Wimbledon looks too difficult for us. My wife isn't really that sporty and doesn't understand all the rules but she said she was much more entertained by the win yesterday than she was in a long while.

Moving grounds can always be difficult for many, I know that many Saints lifelong supporters never moved to the whatever Wicked Stadium it is! from Knowsley Road, even a town rooted in rugby league, I've never been to the new ground! To think zi used to arrive at 1pm for a 3pm kick off, to ensure I could get on the wall,in the boy's pen.
