The pies have had their share of bad luck recently, the loss of speedsters Field, French, Gildart, Manfredi, and Marshall, due to injury would weaken any team.
Alarming is the apparent inability for them to bring back George Williams, even with a first refusal, one of their own has slipped through the net, with Jackson Hasting returning home, and Gildart off to the NRL next season, the Wigan club of old would have had George, signed sealed and delivered as the song goes.
These crippling financial problems, are an indication that rugby league is just about hanging on, Covid and the financial vice it’s created, is squeezing the very life out of the game.

As for tonights game with Huddersfield it really is going to be a lottery as to who gets the 2pts. For all the declarations from Huddersfield about not being able to name a squad they have a what looks a pretty decent one now. The forwards is where we really look very short so hopefully BH has a plan, think the work without the ball will be key.
It’s a shame we couldn’t have put the game. back, especially now the Derbys rearranged, getting our best team back, playing against Huddersfield best available team, would of been much more enjoyable than what’s on offer tonight. And it’s raining at the MKM stadium

Strewth thats a big blow but hopefully Wynne will take the chance at FB, JJ will grab the opportunity at 9 and Mitch will do likewise on the wing.
It is certainly going to be two very patched up sides tonight but if I'm honest I think Huddersfield look to have the advantage tonight though hopefully this loss of Houghton and Swift for tonight in addition to the other absentees will further galvanise the 17 that take the field, if we have 17 that is
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!
Should of accepted the postponement could of played the game in front of a bigger crowd potentially, plus we would of fielded a much stronger team, I do t think Hudds have that many out do they?
Tonight's game shouldn't be going ahead imo, far too many players missing on either side. It's more a reserve team game than a Super league fixture. Farcical. If we drop 2 points we've only ourselves to blame for not seeking a postponement.
