Thought that Child’s was very picky with us tonight yet Wigan were let off for almost identical infringements. Missed the knock on from French in his own 20 and then a clear offside again in their 20. Considering Wigan are one of the sides hotly tipped again there was nothing between them and us.
Really pleasing to see the improvements in defence and more than anything the consistency to be able to defend and stick in a game for 80 mins.
Also notable that Carney raised the point its a game we’d have be way behind in previously.
Just need a bit more luck and a fair crack from the officials.
Honestly don’t think anyone can be disappointed with our season so far.

In recent seasons we would have folded early and got a hammering. Still pleased with the start so far but worried about the injuries to the props.

Not sure who’s sadder, you or the people who think that’s funny, I did say if I was watching as a neutral fan. Good effort though

As I have just read on TRL forum you've got to admire Wigan's discipline.... in the eyes of the officials.

Connor head high tackle and he is sin binned. Farrell does the same and is only penalised.
Hull warned for offside at successive plays and a penalty. Wigan warned for markers not square at successive plays and only six again.
Child gave six again to Wigan on a couple of occasions only after Wigan players exaggeratedly complained.
Wigan consistently - and I’m not just talking about this game - move off the mark when playing the ball and the referee penalises the defending side for pushing them back.
Even the commentators referred to how offside Wigan were at the end but no action by the referee
More than any other team Wigan have learnt how to play referees.
Overall a good performance from Hull considering the above.

I agree it’s nothing, and the game should be allowed to flow, referees are so pedantic when it suits them.

But in the instance were Jake is sin binned, Hardaker reaction pointing and stamping his feet, shouting etc, that part of the game should be dealt with,

Whats worse, Myler in a Leeds game telling the ref to fxxk off, or Hardaker acting like one of those stupid American wrestlers, hold me back, hold me back. :D

At least give me one not from a journalist etc not that it matters, that game clearly wasn’t a classic

Really have a good feel of where we are heading under BH
Don’t think it’s necessarily about this year, but building for the years to come. He’s only signed one player as well. The defence tells me something about the change in culture.

We lost by two to a top team, but we still have plenty of improvement in us.

Onward and upward
