Floodlight bulbs to be changed, just short of 100 needed

Bet that costs a few quid but last time they were on some only had a handful of working bulbs or less.

Wasnt it something like £500 per bulb. Iirc they only fitted enough to half fill each floodlight and a load blew as soon as tgey were turned on.

That was the rumour. I expect there's more to it than bulbs. Those floodlights get hit by some pretty severe weather and won't have had proper maintenance for nearly 10 years.

Thinking about the bulbs there must now be more efficient led types which are used at other grounds instead of the kind we have now .

I agree. Surely it wouldn"'t cost £50,000 to replace the bulbs. That's madness.

The fact that they need to take down the floodlights for each stock-car meet is farcical. You're not telling me that bulbs and cables etc aren't going to get damaged when they're being stored behind the Southbank.

Why do they need to take them down?. Surely they need them to see the race. dont think stockcars generally have headlights, or not ones that are still working by end of race.
