As I said a small advantage but nonetheless one we seem to be giving up.

What are we giving up?

The small advantage I noted in my original post
i.e. that training and playing on the same pitch all of the time for the reasons I stated gives an advantage during a game.

Just to add, this is based on us playing at Trailfinders, given the club has not announced a move.

Just don't think we will be a Trailfinders! small advantages mean nothing, when it's holding as back as a club!

Sure, but don't all of the Wigan teams train at the same venue? Same with Wire, and Sts, and Leeds, etc, etc. One of the good things about Trailfinders (and I'm not wedded to it as a playing venue, I just don't see moving to Wimbledon as being a great deal - we'll f**k it up as usual) is that every team trains there and it is the club's base.

As it stands, even parents of Academy players don't know where they're going to be based this season. It's one thing for the club not to bother telling us mere fans what's going on, but for players to be left in the dark is something else.

Don't disagree with that if we are moving, but that has not yet been announced, if thats because the agreement has not yet been reached, the training ground move could be premature.

Playing and training on the same pitch can have a small advantage in home games for some of the players, eg the folk who benefit from knowing the bounce of the ball etc. Playing on artificial and then training on a muddy soft surface aint helping for home games.
Think the main issue is the club factor, everyone at the club has commented how well TF worked because all levels were in the same place, the junior players could mix with first team, basic fitness training probably in the same weights room etc, it created a family atmosphere.
Split things up you then have the club, and the first team as different clubs in effect.

But that "club" thing happened when we became Quins RL and continued at the Met Police Club. Not only did the whole club have a single training base but the facilities allowed us to run an 18s (or 19s whatever it was at the time) Academy team rather than shipping people off - like LMS to Hull for example. Don't forget though that with a full time squad mainly the first team train during the day and the rest at night - regardless of where that training takes place.

I get the one club idea- something Henderson really pushed for.

Training on the match pitch I suspect isn't a particularly strong argument although i'm sure they will get regular training sessions on it. Kickers etc would be keen to get used to the pitch size, posts .....

Any news on when the announcement is due??

Mac out!

Knowing us, we'll find out about it when AFC Wimbledon tell their fans.
