I would refer you to the sticky thread at the top of the forum entitled :
Gentle reminder provocative posting, also known as “Superblues Law”

Please don’t let my efforts go to waste.

It would be more accurate to say that youngsters are safe whilst at school.
However, they need support staff, teachers, kitchen staff etc, etc
Not to mention that if the kids are "carriers" of the virus, they can spread the thing at school and back home.

I can give you the number of a couple of family members who work at a school in London, where they contracted the virus.
Thankfully both seem to be ok but, I'm sure that they will be delighted with your comment which, for the record, is just wrong.

Sorry pal but, schools are not "safe".

Do you actually think the virus can tell the difference between school, local shops, pub etc, etc

Boris Johnson is a compulsive liar and because he repeats a comment, it doesn't become anymore valid.
I can give you a list of his BIG lies if you want but, you know how long it will be.

Stating that someone is posting rubbish is not provocative.

Correct. However, the way in which it is stated could be.

Indeed, but my comment was accurate, there is no way of knowing where someone catches this terrible infection...

One thing is certain - your family members will not know where they caught the virus and how - so to blame it on schools and in particular the kids may not be accurate.

If opening schools is a priority then teachers should be the next group to be vaccinated - they could all be done in a week and in 3 weeks be reasonably immune.

Only to satisfy pedants like you. I understood what he meant. Schools are safe to me means schools are safe.

Mac out!

Happy to corrected but I think the SAGE advice was always that attending school is safe for children, as children only get minor symptoms if any at all. The obvious issue is that they can pass it on, this wasn't so much of an issue as the younger you are you tend to have a lower viral load. Even prior to Christmas SAGE were advising that shutting schools would be the biggest driver to reduce the R rate, but as the new variant is much more transmissible, which increases risk that they pass it onto parents and carers and so on.

But at least now Boris can argue he has now made schools safe, as hardly anyone is allowed to attend.

Education is an interesting debate.

Given that most schools are following a similar study pattern is there not a case for the public television service to deliver on line lessons - they have multiple channels not used during the day.

Could the lesson not be delivered to all at the same time - that way we don't need loads of laptops and broadband

Yet when BT offered free wi fi to poor children in spring last year the government turned it down in favour of other approaches by their friends in the private sector who have not delivered.
