Based on the criteria, I believe that Leigh have the best best proposal and in every category they are are in the top 2, Reasons why: 1. have the best stadium 2. the strongest squad 3. the best finances 4, largest current fan base 5, recent Super League Experience
The other teams in summary: 1. Toulouse - Based in France, no support for away games, no television deal. Best team for expansion of the game and they have a good team 2. York - New stadium, good squad and Manager - newly established in the Championship and have recruited older veterans. Good for expansion but possibly too soon for promotion, Fan base growing and good community links. 3, Featherstone - The only reasons for the Flat Cappers getting the nod are previous injustices. Their team from 2 years ago did well in the playoffs based on being Leeds reserve team. There will be no dual reg and as a consequence will be a weaker team for it. 4. London - Recent Super League experience, but the Capital experiment has failed many times before. Poorly supported and have a plastic pitch - enough said. 5. Bradford - Once a mighty team to be reckoned with. Their fan base as shrunk, they have no stadium and no money. They are the worst choice of the 6 and for that reason everybody is tipping them for promotion. ,
Excellent analysis Septimus. Cannot see how or why Bradford should get the final place but i also fear that this is what will happen. That club has soaked up years and years worth of Sky Super League money. They have been given chance after chance by Super League and it is an absolute disgrace that they should even be considered again now. They have got away with financial incompetence for decades. Enough should be enough. Just how acceptable is it for more funding to be doled out to that club if today they are awarded the final place - it is like repeatedly flushing money down the toilet - literally in the case of that outdoor privy of a ground they call Odsal. Despite this, there is a worrying level of rumours floating around that they have got it. The rumour mill on the Bulls site indicates that they think it was a done deal for them months ago - perhaps even before the Toronto expulsion decision was announced. Here's hoping the applications have been considered on merit. If life was fair, which i appreciate it isn't, then they should not get it. Here's hoping its good news for Leigh and, if not, then i hope a more deserving case than Bradford gets it. Come on Super League, it is time for someone other than Bradford to get a slice of the funding pie and a chance to show their worth at the top table!
