If he wants to leave, then yes, find a way for him to leave. (Dont have no bad feelings towards him) however I wouldn't let him leave for nothing. If hudds wont pay or swap for him, loan him out for last year of his deal, which would get his wages off our cap.
Very much doubt we gift a rival a player, definatley be a fee involved , Pearsons not daft
Yeah I'd heard Houghton had joined Kelly as our top earner a few seasons ago when their contracts had been sorted last time around.
I'd hazard a guess at Kelly on 150k, Ratu possibly 80k, Jones 100k and god knows what Ellis was on when he first signed prob around 100k, like you said I reckon we've about 300k in wages slashed. Be interesting if Pearson wants that to nullify the sky shortfall and spend any fee for Jones plus all the smaller wages release to put towards a halfback.

Could you please explain the difference finance wise to FC between signing for Hudds with no fee and loaning him out for the season to get him off the cap.

It's a fair point, if Hudds dont pay a fee though I'd be tempted to loan him to another club, a but like Wigan did with Scott Taylor. Think they will pay a fee then, even if it's not as big as it should be.

If we loan him out, get the club who loan him to pay his wage then he wont count on fc cap. Gives us more cap space for this season and going forward. As after his loan season he will be ooc

I’d still hold out for a fee as he’s contracted to us and he was happy to sign the contract for two years. Otherwise what’s the point of having a contract?
I agree we shouldn’t keep a player who doesn’t want to be here, but as someone said it’s give and take.
If Josh is desperate to leave and go to Huddersfield, then we can tell him he can go as long as we get a fee. Otherwise he can stay with us for another year and commute daily to Hull five days a week. If he doesn’t turn up for work, then we don’t have to pay him his wages. I’m sure he won’t fancy the idea of that.
Give and take works both ways and we don’t need to be the party that compromises on everything.
Hopefully the whole situation gets resolved quickly and we can all move on.
