I'm very disappointed in Jones, think he owes the club another season personally.

At least we should get a fee, good chunk of cap and we certainly have the quality in the backrow.

Maybe not the depth though with only Savelio, Lane and Ma'u.

If his wife doesn't want to move and he can get a gig nearer home with less hassle for a coach he knows then so be it. Some signings work out, others don't. Jones has been a disappointment, Fonua not up to previous standards, but Sao, Ma'u and Cator have all done well IMO.

Hodgson has limited wriggle room this year but with a raft of players OOC end 2021 I hope we get the likes of Griffin and Connor extended early and see what changes are needed.

We have loads of cap to play with for next season, not sure if we have the money to use it though. I think Pearson's will want to back the new coach and will do as good a job as possible to spend as close as possible to the cap. Us fans have to do the best we can to support the club through these tough times. Sponsors seem to be doing there bit and the new kit will be a big seller, so hopefully we will have the money to make 2/3 signings.

Hopefully we’ll be a bit smarter with the cap, and supplement the squad with Academy players.

Sometimes it’s not always about players, it’s about systems. We’ve relied too much on individuals to win us games in the recent past, and we need to change that. I’ve got a bit of hope that it may happen now.

Whether an international or not I can’t say he will be a huge loss as we never really saw much from him in a Hull shirt. Disappointing that he signed a deal and was going to relocate only to then not and then want out due to the travel. If you aren’t prepared to relocate or travel then don’t take the money and sign.

Hopefully gives BH more options to shape the squad.

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Anybody willing to hazard a guess at what wages have been freed up with the player releases?

Has to be some chunk with Ratu, Ellis (coach wage) Kelly and Jones released, obviously we need to find money for the reduced sky money 240k. And anything we've borrowed due to covid

We must have a considerable chunk of cap, I'm pretty sure when Kelly signed his new contract a couple of years ago it was announced as one of the biggest contracts we'd ever given out (so must be upwards of 150k) and Jones must have been on over 100k aswell plus ratu, Ellis, Buchanan, Bienek and the youth players I think we must have around 300k to play with.

I guess with contract extensions Carlos and Lane will have got an increase but Houghton and shaul maybe a slight decrease, its all just guess work I know but we should have enough room for a couple of decent signings.

Only half of Ratu's salary would have been on the cap, but "real" money will have been saved.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?
