I didnt read it as no crowds till March. I read it as Sports have been advised to prepare for no fans, but the decision will be under constant review (which I thought it was anyway). If the new measures help flatten the curve, then its possible test events will be able to go ahead again in the future. If that will be enough for some sports, who knows. I know a non league friendly was still allowed to go ahead last night with 1000 tickets available (think 6/700 turned up). that was with govt backing, despite other games having fans banned
The rules in regard to this Covid situation that we find ourselves in. Will only get tighter as the infection rate increase. Deaths though, are flat lining. I might add. Although things are said to be constantly under review. I believe March to be the when things will be eased enough to allow fans back to sporting events. It is a bit of a worry for a lot of people. In truth.
Will all these things a lot of it is how its reported rather than what was actually said. The planned move from 1 oct to have more sports piloting crowds and trialling procedires we know is def off. The govt didnt actually say that the tightening of restrictions and opening things up like crowds at sport would last 6 months, what was said was its possible tighter restrictions may be needed for that long. But it depends on the numbers, infection rates go up and down. If they start dropping again then possibly letting crowds back in could be back on the agenda. Personally i cant see it happening before xmas. London Broncos have paired down the staff by letting players go, i think the survival will depend a lot on the chancellors new plan. Even with govt assistance thougjh i can see even some of the part time pro teams folding.
Realistically nothing before Xmas seems almost certain, which is why the 1895 Cup looks doubtful. If it’s January or beyond, no revenue apart from central funding (assuming that is still available) I am unsure whether all SL clubs will survive?
Sunik’s speech this afternoon may over something, but it won’t be furlough -doubtful it will be enough........
Just been speaking to a guy who sells advertising, sponsorship, lottery, hospitality and all that stuff for our local championship football team. Very downbeat. Had hoped to have something, albeit nothing like normal, but something to sell in October. That has gone. In addition they make a lot of money through functions, their Christmas nights which he would be selling now, are just about gone With furlough finishing there will have to be cuts and they run a tight ship. As he put it. We are in the poop. And they are not alone.
