ManU have been spending money like confetti for years trying to buy success and it still hasn't happened.

Man U haven't had success? In relative terms they propably spend no more now then they did 10 years ago. The difference is 10 years ago they had a world class manager.

So why haven't they got one now?

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

Through choice, not through a lack of funds.

Like Man City, Man Utd are guilty of arrogance, throw Chelsea in there too, Liverpool are doing well because FSG have rebuilt the club from the bottom, FC are messed up because LR destroyed the creativity of the playing group, all he wanted is crash, bang, wallop and RL is not like that now, it will take 3 to 4 years to get rid of his legacy (and his mates). The best thing that could happen for FC is a new owner who will bin Last and the old hands, it is a sad state of affairs when a 39 year old man makes so much difference by just being on the pitch, Radford may have been the guy in the media when we won b2b cups, but Ellis is the core of the club. Houghton, Shaul, Taylor would not get a game in the top four, Jones doesn't want to play, Kelly is going (ambitious to go to the mighty Leigh), Pearson brought in Purtill and we see noithing of him, and the more I read about people thinking Wane should be coaching us the more I think my money is better spent on something more entertaining, like buying some paint and watching it dry.

In hindsight maybe, but at the time they probably thought they were making the right decisions.

New coach looks even more unlikely after today’s news.

I agree
Its a bit like Pearson sacking Peter Gentle and binning Watts

Sacking Gentle was the right decision, he was talking the club down the wrong path in terms of recruitment, it took two years to sort out the mess of average players on massive contracts. Keeping Radford a year too long was the mistake.

Watching Broncos this morning under Gentle and he's managed to win them the first wooden spoon in their history.
