There isn't one except it might cost a few quid more

The Latics fans are up in arms on social media. To say they want IL as a buyer is exaggerating the truth somewhat. I’ve read tweet after tweet of abuse directed towards IL, some even saying they’d rather the club end up in the North West Counties League than IL buy them. With little over a week to go before the self imposed deadline it’s little wonder they’re getting so angry and impatient, if it was us I’d certainly be shouting from the rooftops, but I wouldn’t be saying I’d rather we end up back at amateur level just because it was Latics that wanted to buy us. I can’t for the life of me understand that viewpoint, it’s embarrassing.
I do hope they get a buyer and that it is IL and his consortium, I’ve no love for Latics but to see them go would be a real shame. Having said that some fans are making it quite hard to have sympathy for them.

That's been the story for quite a while.
Always makes me laugh when I read how aggrieved they are about the way Maurice Lindsay 'treated them in the 80s', even though most of them probably weren't watching back then. It certainly can't be any worse than the way we've been treated by some of them ever since Whelan forced us into the stadium share. They were insufferable on this forum alone, till they call got kicked off it.
Even that should be water under the bridge by now, but it's very difficult to feel anything even approaching warmth towards a club when so vocal a quarter of its fans appear to loath and detest us so much.

I agree. My sisters boyfriend is 24 and a lifelong Latics fan. He asked me a few weeks ago what the whole hatred was about as he had no idea. All he knew was to dislike the Warriors, he even said an uncle of his refuses to sit in his season ticket seat because it’s red. I told him about what Lindsay said, which in fairness was particularly distasteful but even he said back that it shouldn’t still be a thing.
If it were us in dire financial straits and looking at 1wk until we go boom I can bet my bottom dollar there’d be very few Latics fans with an ounce of sympathy or support. The majority would be cheering and celebrating like they’d won the league. It’s been the opposite for us, I’ve seen little Warriors fans celebrating their demise and on the most part it’s been quite sympathetic and supportive.
Sad state of affairs. It’s high time we all put the past to bed and worked together. Perhaps that’s naive of me, I realise the chances of that are as slim as the RFL organising a p*ss up in a brewery!

I agree. There's been very few Wigan RL supporters publicly enjoying what's going on (apart from a couple of wind up merchants on Facebook).
Had some grief over the years by certain Latics supporters so I should be enjoying this, but I don't. There's other supporters like Conroy who are big fans of both clubs.
Do I want to see Latics back in the PL, hell no. Their supporters were insufferable last time and the an imbalance of power (moving games to Widnes/Leigh), no Friday night matches... etc!
Do I want to see them go into oblivion? Not really, there's impacts on stadium ownerships and costs for us (it would be nice if we got a bigger say as well a % of food and drinks sales), but we won't be paying the regular annual rent rate either I'd expect, can we afford to upkeep the stadium on our own?
Saw some of these allegations last night about 'non football' influences into the asset stripping of Latics. Hope it's not IL (surely not after the press release from the club showing support and advising of a bid to save the club). There would be war if it was.
I have however seen another well known rugby league related name been mentioned (not Wigan RL related), if true his intentions are unknown as he's no longer actively involved in the sport.

All over the Latics forums that we're the new owners of the stadium, suppose we'll have to wait for confirmation but that may be were Mr Danson comes in.

If rumours are to be believed, we've just bought the stadium for £2.5M and latics have been bought by an American for a few million. I have missed feelings about this as it's obviously great that now no one has anything over us - rentboys etc, but I also really wanted latics to die. Hopefully we rinse them for rent.
