To summarise: IR80 and Sal Paradise believe that the Government is totally trustworthy and knows best on how to manage schools through the pandemic. They also believe that most teachers are work shy loony left types intent on collapsing the economy.

I don’t know your age or infirmity but hey this is an equal opportunity forum and these shouldn’t be reasons for you not to continue. I do know that you frequent the twilight zone when it comes to this government ( I thought you would like the TV and Film reference.) I was asked not to keep insulting you but it is so easy because you have that sort of personality.

They can't see their own paradoxical thinking. They think public sector workers get paid lorry loads of money for doing nothing, but then fail to understand why there is a shortage of teachers, nurses, midwives, etc. If it was such an easy ride, with attractive remuneration, surely everyone would want to be doing it?
Schrödinger's public sector workers. Massive wages and perks for doing nothing, but not enough people doing it.

I never said that - what I said is until we are all vaccinated the conditions will never be 100% acceptable to the teachers unions - who I believe are the real issue. The teachers' unions have always been quite militant and you have to naive to believe the unions are not seeing this as an opportunity for a power-grab.
Perhaps if everyone had the kids best interest at heart we might move forward - close the pubs/restaurants etc. if that is what is required - children are our future and as such our best investment opportunity.
There was no reason GCE and especially A'level exams couldn't have been sit - empty schools, teachers at home - it was a disgrace and every teacher should be hanging their head in shame that they were a catalyst to facilitate that.
Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

McCarthyism still alive and well in 2020. If right wing nutters like you and IR80 got a bit more sleep of a night you wouldnt have to be constantly sh!tting yourself about 'power-grabs'.

right wing nutters?
if wanting teachers to work and kids to be educated makes me a nutter, fine, better than ignoring lockdown!
May I suggest that in order to move this forum forward we stop exchanging insults. No more loony left or right wing nutters, just left, right and centre.

I don't mind half baked insults, afterall, opinions only matter when they come from someone whom you respect!
If teachers are happy to have a legacy of kids with no jobs or prospects, good on them, they must sleep well at night!
With comment's like this, you will attract a response. Just because you dont agree with someone's opinion, doesn't mean that you should try throw out cheap shots.
For you to reference the opinions of others as codgers, seems to infer that you maybe from the younger generation, with extra time off school.
Perhaps when you have finished your learning you will understand the discussion a little better.
Hope that you got the grades that you wanted this week .

Yea I find the persistent references to people's ages a bit baffling. I can't say that anyone is particularly giving their age away on either side of the spectrum.
