[quote="SingaporeFax"]Under Grix, there are no two performances the same. Although I wasn't there, today was clearly abject. Words fail how shameful that second half must have been, to concede 10 points off penalities to 12 men doesn't make logical sense. Discipline is diabolical. As I have said before, the plight of our discipline is either lack of fitness, lack of coach oversight to understand where the issues are or a combination of both.
I know the game 'boiled over' at times, Leigh (we) were no angels, BUT some of the penalties awarded to us and yourselves were for really petty things. Apparently the Ref has recently arrived from officiating in the lower leagues in Australia, but for 'technical offences' that are marginal. just let the game flow....FFS !

It's them giving the penalties away, getting run over down the middle when defending and hardly being able to break a tackle going forward not SG. They've been told, he's told them, they know it and either can't change or won't change. In this scenario the coach would normally force the changes so why hasn't he. SG gave the answer and said. "It's not like we can go to the supermarket and buy what we want." That was the case in preseason recruitment and is the case now, when players are performing they play when they're not they get dropped, so again what options has he to leave some sitting in the stands? Who have we got currently in the squad to replace them with? No one. Who can we afford to bring in who's available and any better? No one. Who was available on DR? No one. Unlike us who can basically say what we want SG has to restrain himself in being critical of his players when commenting in interviews and in public. Unlike us he's living it, breathing it, thinking about it every day whilst still trying to fix it with his hands tied behind his back to some extent.
RM did a great job in what he achieved but he would have done an even better job with more funding because he would have brought in better players. Every team in this division who have made progress in the past and are at the top now have had the most money to spend and the better DR arrangement both equating to more better quality players to choose from. Funding isn't the be all and end all but for Fax in the current situation it just means we are less likely to be able to make the necessary changes.
Pull the other one lad. That team is more than good enough to be competing with Leigh, Fev, London, Toulouse
+ A majority of other players have played at the top level of the championship for many seasons and Super 8s . I have no doubt that other teams have healthier playing budgets than us and who wouldn't rather play their rugby in Toulouse! But the present gulf for me is too sizeable for the squad we have.
Irrelevant of DR. He might turn it around but little evidence to suggest its going to happen. The discipline and being rolled down the middle is everything to do with prep and mitigation. If he can't galvanise them to tackle it on the field then there is a fundamental issue in how they are preparing both as a team and for the opposition.

You blame the coach, I don't based on the fact of seeing that it's the same players giving the penalties, losing the collision in the tackle and making the errors, not the coach. If any player in the Fax team, especially of those you quoted needs to be galvanized or shown how to tackle or how to play at this stage of their careers then it makes you wonder how they even got this far. Incidentally of those players you quoted. Lee and Kavanagh aren't even playing. Grix and Broughton are backs. Murrell is a stand off who defends the right edge. None of whom have any effect on being rolled down the middle and aren't the ones giving the penalties away. Other than that your analysis makes perfect sense, lad.

Easy to blame the ref, but I don't think you can argue too much with any of the cards. Yes, other refs might have interpreted things differently, but you can see why they were given.
One the penalties, if I were a Fax fan, the tip tackle, that tackler holding reynolds down as he was getting up and the shoulder charge would really annoy me. They were brainfades, close to their own line and made life easy for Leigh, who were happy to chip away and take the 2s on offer. Whether the ref was petty at times, these were actual penalties and they helped decide the game.
Would've helped if the ref hadn't made up a load of hand signals for his decisions though. Think he started doing the YMCA at one point.

You've really misrepresented what I am saying. I am referring to the discipline aspect; if Grix can't galvanise them to collectively take responsibility for the discipline on the field, not the literal tacking itself, although I'm not privy, the wrestling aspect has become a core feature for a lot of defences now. We could just as well be poor in that department as well. You can split hairs if you want but everything on the field for the majority of last year and this year suggests failings at the coaching level. Hoping Tommy Lee might bring a bit of steel down the middle. Fleming and Larroyer need dropping IMO.

Very honest interpretation of exactly how i felt.Team full of clueless clowns coached by an individual who offers no answers and seems totally nonplussed by the whole events.GFB touched on it but having to drop out from a kick off set the whole second half trend and we totally lost all momentum against 11 men............
Not sure where we go from here. Seems we are stuck with grix as a coach. Also we have no players to come in to replace the the likes of Fleming and laroyer. Hope Dual reg starts paying off sure Huddersfield will have a couple of decent forwards in the reserves to step in and replace the two penalty machines.

Spoke to you,Fax4life plus a couple others at half time and we were all in 100% agreement about the second half yet the team came out and did the complete opposite.
