Between being loaned from Bradford to Leeds and Leeds to Bradford he has signed a permanent contract with Leeds.

It was mentioned about being concerned about attendances and that it could be less than 1000 when we play London.

This weekend of the 11 Challenge Cup games reported upon in the press 7 of them had crowds of less than a thousand.

Eagles vs Fax had just 429 and these were both former winners of the cup.

Siddal vs Newcastle had more with 450.

London vs York had 543 with London being a Super League club just last season and York a club on the up shows the state of the game across the game and not just at Fax.

Challenge Cup in decline, yes, attendances in decline?

I know.
I must have read it ten times over not believing the figures and even now still hard to believe.
Unless there is a mass “let’s cheat the taxman” conspiracy going on.

It does show it’s not the whole picture to say Fax are the only ones with low crowds.

Fev had 1120.
Bradford 1458.
Leigh 1586.
Widnes 1564.
Workington 612.
Swinton 622.
Rochdale 400.
North Wales Crusaders 249.

Greg Florimos Boots wrote:Halifax in poor discipline shocker. As FW says the penalties are normally fo a reason and one of those reasons is the forwards struggling. From what we have seen of our pack so far this season we are on the back foot most of the game as they are easily rolled. Too many players not good enough in that pack and its the same players who were not good enough last season.

Correct in all respects.
On discipline the press stats from the game say this on Fax.
“It was their first half performance that let them down, when they conceded a staggering ten penalties.
When they did get the ball, which was just ten occasions in the opening 40 minutes they managed to complete their set just 3 times.”

On the pack performance it says this.
“Fax to their credit defended their line superbly well but down the middle of the pitch were out muscled by an aggressive Dewsbury pack that caught Fax out.”

I were surprised it were a half back we brought in when its glarringly obvious where the problem lies. Jonathan Thurston would stuggle behind a beaten pack.

Short term likely down to Gilmore’s injury and just cover for that, it will interesting to see if Toms in the squad this week.

When we were supposedly looking for another 6 or 7 it’s consistent with what SG said about being patient, that after the first few games some fringe SL half backs who weren’t getting a game at their parent club could come available.
Lawrence Turner mentioned we were no longer looking for a half or a centre because of our DR arrangement with Huddersfield which is a bit inconsistent but put it down to needs must and adapting to the current situation.

In any case a big  to all those involved with the Fax builder fund.

Forwards.
A few SL clubs are already struggling in the pack and are looking to strengthen so Fax will be some way down the pecking order for getting any permanent quality in as it turned out with Oliver Roberts.
