Rumour of a rumour on the Forty20 podcast

I assume it would no Championship play off and just top two go up

I'd be very happy if this is true.... Also no loop fixtures

I lose track, assuming SL stays at current size, how will promotion / relagation work ?

I would have thought they would do what they did with League 1 a couple of seasons back when York and Bradford got promoted. Promote whoever finished top and then there would be play off from 2 to 5 to see who joins them.

Would not be surprised by this, they would have to do something to stop Toronto going down.
Apart from that a 14 team super league has always been the most sensible option, play each other home and away 26 rounds much fairer and better for the fans

Hmm. The first thing I thought of when I read this was that it might be Ottawa and New York who are wanted in SL, not 2 Championship teams. Depending on whatever new TV deal is struck, can't see too many SL chairmen voting to split the pot 14 ways - they have already indicated they want to cut Championship teams' funding drastically.

Toronto have now played 6, lost 6.

What was our tally after 6 rounds?

There is precisely zero evidence that SL clubs want Toronto in their competition. In fact, there is copious amounts to suggest exactly the opposite. Clubs are going out of their way to make life difficult for TWP. It's pathetic, but only to be expected from the backwards-looking people who run the game in this country.

That's not to say TWP haven't made mistakes, or that they are a sustainable long-term club, those are different issues. The SL clubs (and Robert Elstone himself) have made it clear they don't want TWP.

So where is the evidence that SL teams don't want Toronto in their league?
And elstone when has he ever said he does not want Toronto
Like most stuff on here it was my opinion that the RFL a s SL would prefer it if Wolfpack stayed up and a way of doing that would be the 14 team SL

The SL clubs refused to give Toronto the £1.8million central funding - sharing it between themselves instead. They still insisted on Toronto paying for the SL clubs' trips to Canada. They refused to give Toronto the 10% weighting to the salary cap that London used to get in recognition of the differences in costs compared to the northern clubs.

As to Elstone, just take a look at his comments a week or two back. He doesn't even try to hide his view on them being in SL.

The RFL can't change the structure of SL, the SL clubs took control of their own competition 18 months ago.

Your actually wrong on a number of counts
.Toronto chose not to take any central funding, it was not denied to them
Toronto never asked for 10%:weighting on the salary cap, they asked for 5%
Why didnt they ask for it at the outset?
The change to the SL structure would have to be RFL and SL approved.
As for Toronto paying costs of travel for SL clubs, I actually don't know about that, do believe they still owe a number of clubs from last year
So what did elstone say and when
