Simple question is spending 2.5 million a year on one players wages worth it? Will it generate any extra interest in the game as a whole or will it result in clubs overspending?

What "fixation"? He invests money, without which, we would have no club. My fixation isn't with him per-say, but more about how his 2 bills are wasted each year on stuff that in the greater scheme, have done us little if any good.
Hughes bankrolls us because he can, but at no stage has employed anyone other than yesmen into rolls that they were either unqualified for or roles that were beyond their capabilities.
