I know folk will say there's months till the start of the season, but unless we are going to announce 10 signings tomorrow then my guess is that the rest of the squad will be straggled up to the first week of the season, meaning 50% of any future signings might not have had a pre season and come in unfit or undercooked.
First 17 clearly needs strength adding to it. And we could do with 6 or so players with 75+ first team games in reserve. There's barely 30 games between numbers 20-30. It's great to see they're coming through but now isn't the time to be relying on them. As we saw a few seasons back, in the championship they'll end up getting banged for the whole season. It doesn't do them any good in the long run.
I expect we will be relying on dual reg for the experience in 2020, if we link up with Toronto they will have plenty of players on sidelines when finished building squad for SL.

The thing that people barely ever seem to factor in with these 'Choose for starting 17' threads are the inevitable injuries that happen. Then you get people over on Bulls Banter saying daft things 'Oh we don't need any more half backs, we've got Lilley and Milnes....' not considering that one or both will get injured at some point.
We definitely need around 6-8 seasoned, experienced players. Because whilst we actually can put a decent 17 out right now, we WILL get injuries - possibly before the season even get started - and then you're deep into kids that have zero experience.
And by 'seasoned experience' I don't mean SL fringe players on DR who are no more experienced and seasoned that our own kids, like some of the Hull KR academy players that have been mentioned. They'll just end up getting bullied around by the tough guys at Batley, Swinton etc.
I'm sure John Kear (unlike Geoff Toovey) is wise enough to know this and do something about it!
thanks J4B, can I ask you a big favour? edit it adding the positions for nos 20-30, just FR BR HB and B would do unless you want to be more exact. then people can get an idea of where our strengths lie (being positive, like our vice captain Hallas).
