Ultimately, if we don't sort the pack out we won't be able to free up our creative players in Parcell and Quinlan - who on there day are as good as most in the league.
Look how easily Salford rolled us up the field and how easily Wakefield and London pegged us back. We can't seem to start sets well or from deep but if we do get in the oppositions 20 this year we seemed to come alive a little bit. Backed up by our kicking game been utterly abject we need to start thinking about winning terrority battles better then not been so knackered as we defend all the time in poor areas. The blueprint should be the leeds home game from April.
Not sure where we get pack improvements from with no quota spaces and no real English Market for it at the moment, so I don't see vast improvements.
If we could get more bodies on the pitch as opposed to them 10 games start of the year we played with 1 prop, I think we naturally fare a little better like
Seems Addy is coming to us at Leigh - what’s your opinion of him
Tomkins gone. Not sure I am too bothered. As always, thanks for your effort and contribution. No idea why he has gone, but we cannot have anyone who is likely to miss matches due to temperament issues. Maybe he was targeted by the opposition, and reacted accordingly but it costs the team. He was an ok forward but never a stand out for me. If you are going to have a "bad boy" in the squad, for me, they need to be top player who rattles the opposition and gets the home supporters on their side.. Don,t think that was the case with Joel. Was his heart in the club, not sure, with some it,s obvious, Stanley Gene, Clint Newton to name just two.Not bad boys, but seemed to love the club.Wish we could find two like them. Good luck to him, just not against us. We are now really lightweight for players, just hope the club does not make the same mistake again by going with a small squad. Finding the players is now the issue.Lets hope Tony Smith and Danny McGuire are the right people to do it.
Tomkins previously commented he didn't like Smith's coaching style. That's handy, because I didn't like Tomkins captaining style.
A good player that simply doesn't fit with the direction the club is now trying to go - a more open style of play rather than Sheens' more regimented style.

That salary cap is starting to get freed up......
The thing with Tomkins he was good in a good Wigan team I for one would never had made him captain and I do not think we will miss him
