If that’s the case then players have to be unavailable to play until investigation has taken place, which has happened in a number of occasions this season.

In Tomkins case it doesn't need an investigation its as clear as day on the sky footage he lands two punches to the head of Mamo, he should be banned for a game at least.
On the whole incident I can't believe some fans are blaming the referee even for the trouble in the stands. The players throughout that game were terrible for back chatting - Chris Hill and Tomkins being the worst culprits.
Catalan really are a grubby team, last year at Headingley was appalling with the fake injuries and playing for time, I just hope we don't let them drag us down to that level next week.

I agree with all this. In the circumstances I thought Child handled the game quite well. The Catalans team were a disgrace with the grubby tactics, and Warrington indiscipline a lesson to be learned on how not to. I do think he should have abandoned the rules at the end, but it was the players who were delaying the situation with their antics, not the ref.
Who was the Catalans player who ran in from behind at the end and punched Ratchford, whilst he was face to face with another? That player seems to have got away presently, and hopefully this is all seen on review.
The only thing I would critisize Child on was the first half sinbinning of McLorum, which I feel was harsh and the wrong player.
The RFL need to take their time on this as there'll be a lot of footage to go through, but the two straight reds shouldn't be rescinded so those bans can start straight away. Equally they need to be sensible - everyone will have done something in the melee, they need to deal with the worst offenders then warn the team's about further conduct.
If you’re a team captain you have a responsibility to deal with the referee professionally. If you can’t you should be banned for a game or two. It’s a tough sport but discipline is fundamental to making it work.
Seems to me there was a stewarding issue at the ground, allied to there being some fighty types on both sides and most likely beer and heat. Both clubs should be sanctioned; that isn’t a great look and we’re supposed to be a family friendly game. Dock competition points so it hurts the fans too, and maybe there’ll be an element of self-policing.
On the field; I don’t really have a problem with two trained players having a disagreement with each other, but again these mass street brawls aren’t good.
There is an issue with officials allowing tension and frustration to build with over-wrestling and spoiling tactics. I’ve said it before but for me the ruck is a mess at the moment. I’d like to see refs penalising defenders who play for the ball after the tackle is effected.
For me, the rules are currently too sanitised for 1:1 contact and too soft around the gang wrestling and spoiling tactics.

That's happened when the players have accepted guilt, but requested a deferred hearing if I'm not mistaken. Don't get me wrong some should be banned this week, but it's just our luck they won't be.
