Although I’m a Leyther, I know one of the Directors very well, and consider him a friend, he is Fax through and through, and will do a great job for you,I’m sure your future as a Club is bright, having folk like him at the helm.
Despite the press statement the old directors were sacked and this is just window dressing, they tried and failed.....like so so many directors before them and for putting themselves into the job they should be thanked.
My views on the new board...who don’t come with lots of cash or bold plans...yet
Turner was a director for a short period some 15 years ago under Pearson, he was personally responsible for negotiating with the revenue back then to get us out of a potential closure. Ever since he has been a steadfast supporter and huge sponsor, he runs a successful local business and drives for Blood Bikes. He is also a big shareholder as he had lots and was given Mrs Pearson’s & Posner’s shares when they moved away (in itself an endorsement). All in all he looks like the perfect man to get back on the BOD.....if he has time to do the job properly.
Bray, is a staunch fan and modest sponsor. He has never been involved in running a rugby club but runs a success local business so will know how to balance the books. He owns no shares and doesn’t come with deep pockets I think he fits in to the category of many of our ex directors that his heart will be 100% in the right place but time will tell if he can add real value.
Grayson is continuing and I think his links and work in the community make him a real asset to the way the club operates, although I don’t see him as the type to add financial muscle or business kudos to the BOD. We need people like this at Board level.
At present this means that Croad is still not on the Board but having a big influence....is he really in charge but behind the scenes? Steele is still the biggest shareholder, but frankly was not very good at running the club and the reason he has most shares is he put in lots of cash to cover up his boards failure to sort out the accounts.
I’d be interested what others think
I think the club must be desperate to appoint one of the incoming directors, probably a like for like in the fact will probably walk around as though he owns the place and bring little the table. Why do the club keep appointing directors what for me seem like just filling a slot for the sale of it.

Thought the same to be fair.

It sounds like rubbish to me. The statement has them leaving and replaced at the same time so were we just lucky that a couple of potential board members were loitering around the car park, or were they just waiting until after the match to announce this in a bid not to take focus away from our most important game for years. Who knows.
LT is a great appointment in my opinion - ideal as a finance director given his background and experience. What the club is really lacking is a successful commercial director. The commercial dept was dying under Haggerty, hence why his mate Christian moved him to finance despite him having no financial experience. Existing sponsors were threatening to leave in droves, and new sponsors reluctant to get involved while PH was in place. Who can blame them? The new commercial 'team' has had all on trying to rebuild these bridges.

It wasn’t LT I was referring to, rather the guy that walks around in a vest thinking he’s a player or something. Why are we apointing these people thinking it’s going g to take the club forward. Is it Hell we need some real commercial acumen.

A bit like when the current owners of FCHT tried to take over HTAFC, there must have been 100+ people who were 'shareholders' meaning gaining enough control became impossible.
You always have to question the intentions of someone who becomes a director of a sporting club such as HRLFC or FCHT. Even more so in FCHT case where the current owners of the club had no previous affiliation to Halifax Town. There are no major rewards i.e. an annual dividend, and neither club has any major asset with the stadium owned by the council - this is good in that it puts off potential asset strippers.
I believe it then comes down to 3 categories to what drives someone who wants to become a director; 1) ego, 2) love the sport and want a go at running a club (which is related to 1) ) or 3) they are already a supporter of the club. The latter category isnt necessarily good as it doesnt mean the person is capable of the leadership required and also peoples motives can change over time. For some reason people with a perfectly sound business brain can go on to be totally incompetent when it comes to running a professional sporting club.
As an outsider, I have always thought directorships at Fax have been dished out as 'jobs for the boys'. I think there have been 16 directors in 12 years. There has been no real stability which possibly reflects on the clubs development. Something new might be planned and implemented but it soon dies a death when someone else comes in for example.
Stop posting on here and get the proper board sorted.....

I assume they cross reference the details of what director has resigned against what director was in position and ensure it was signed by someone with the authority to do so.
