It makes sense. He's worked with the youngsters coming through and I'm sure he's aware of the systems that Basitan has used and I think he's capable of carrying on the good work that's already been started

Good decision for me. Gets to continue the good work started by Bastian. Players seem to like him.

Well he’s definitely earned his chance and he seems very committed to Bradford. Wonder who we will bring in to take on the duties that Beattie was doing?

A good appointment and makes sense given his connections.

It won’t do much to dispel the rumours of trouble ahead though as it seems he is still going to be doing his original job too. Although it could be that we’ve realised we don’t need two people in the role in the first place.

Unless I’ve read it wrong of course but read to me that he is keeping his original duties too.

Smakcks of being cheap option TBH and if he's still doing his original duties too reduces wage bill by one.

Saw it coming a mile off. Cost cutting

I wondered how long it would be before somebody mentioned the cost cutting. I must say that was my first thought.

It's not a bad option - Leigh Beattie is a great guy who I think will do decent job. But it doesn't really scream ambition. Nor does it bring in fresh ideas and new thinking.

And I'm concerned even more if he's pulling double duty with his current role.

Well I don't think we'll be running U16s, U19s and Reserves next season. I expect U16s to go and become U18s and the U19s and Reserves to be a kind of merger. That should mean work can be spread around a bit more easily.

Obviously the club need to cut costs. I don't have a problem with that.

I understand the u16s will continue next year, but the u192 will be replaced by an u18 team. Any u19s deemed good enough to keep will play Reserve Grade.
Could all be academic though bearing in mind current developments off the field.
Absolutely correct to cut costs wherever possible.
