One of the longest contracted players, hence the desire to give him every opportunity to develop. To be fair he is much improved in last few weeks, worth his place on merit.

We did it plus winning 3 consecutive league games against Leeds for the first time in almost 30 years. Agar could not replicate other ex Hull FC coaches who have beaten us in league games at Headingley. Can you name them?

He certainly was. Also after losing 2 consecutive Wembley CC Finals with Hull in '59 and '60 it was 3rd time lucky for Roy at Leeds in '68. I came from South Africa for this one and unbelievably Don Fox missed with a last minute conversion from beside the post which would have given Wakefield victory by a point. Proud to say that Roy was a good friend of my dad who died suddenly a few days before that final.
Was impressed with Leeds yesterday, they did not look like a side who lose more than they win. Did look like we’re going to blow them away after 20 mins, but credit to them once they found their mojo. After that it was a great contest of Rugby League.
The Handley intercept was like a 12 point try because we were going in in that corner had his gamble not paid off. That appeared to give them a real lift and knock us back in equal measure in one foul swoop. So it was great to see us show a mental strength to get back on top in the arm wrestle enough to get the winning try and put together a desperate defence to keep them out as the final seconds ticked away.
Never realised just how spent both sides were at the end. You don’t usually see so many bodies collapse at the hooter.
It was a great contest and we found something when we had to. It was ferocious and non stop out there and will hold us in good stead for next weeks battle. A tough and well deserved win. Leeds are where they are because they’ve been pretty crap all season, but if they could find some consistency at yesterday’s level they are nowhere near relegation fodder.

Great posts Chris, uppo and rider. I couldn’t make it so that was some good insight into the match. I’m pumped for the CC semi now just hope we saved some energy! Cheers
