For me, like London, I think the coach has got them exceptionally fit. They can run hard from deep in attack and have a great defensive line, for 80 minutes.

I think that’s why London may stay up and Saints will finish top.

But they aren’t unbeatable. Twice this season Wire have been their match until lack of discipline has seen someone sin binned.

Sadly, very.

A big reason why crowds are down. That and the format of the league means that games aren't box office anymore.

Your original post:
Phuzzy wrote:"That’s a load of nonsense. Should we get rid of the top try scorer award because everyone plays in completely different teams? Their stats are absolutely comparable, they both play centre and face the same opposition"

There's no 'nice try' about it. You claimed that stats such as top try scorer proved who was best in a given position regardless of any other factors. You can't have it both ways. So which is it? Is Eden better than Makinson or do you concede that you were talking b0llocks?

Phuzzy wrote:What on earth are you on about? You used top try scorer as an indicator of the relative ability of two players. The words you've quoted above are from my post, not yours. You can't hide behind something you didn't even write! If you'd put 'such as' in your post, then fair enough. You didn't.

Frankly, you're not worth replying to. You haven't the slightest inkling of how to compose and maintain a coherent argument. So you resort to using individual soundbites with no meaning or substance whatsoever and stand back thinking you've been somehow profound.

I was aware that trying to hold a discussion with you reminded me of something but couldn't quite put my finger on it. Then my 5 year old tried to convince me they should have some more sweets before tea and suddenly it hit me. I think we'll leave it there.

And I’m the one who hasn’t the slighest inkling of how to compose and maintain a coherent argument? Idiot.

How can you have been our match when we’ve beat you on both occasions? The first one was an absolute thumping as well. You don’t know whether you’d have won both games if the sin bins didn’t happen. We’re ahead of you by miles because we’re a far better side that is stronger in every position apart from hooker.

That is the most pointless post I’ve read on this forum.

NickyKiss wrote:Totally agree on Saints. They’ve got a top coach but it doesn’t take much for the deck of cards to come tumbling down. It’ll take longer for him to get poached by an Aussie club then it did with Maguire from us because he’s not at a club with as big a profile. He’ll go eventually and once he leaves and that front row is broken up by retirement and Thompson quits for the NRL we’ll then see just how average some of these players being lauded really are.

No doubting they’re the best side in superleague but it’s built totally on a top coach and a great front row. That will all get broken up within the next couple of years.

The desperation is palpable. And somehow, I doubt NRL clubs appoint head coaches based on what teams won 50 years ago. Anyway, Saints have been more successful in the SL era than Wigan so that idea is absolute nonsense either way.

Desperation?

You’re a good side no doubt about it and I don’t think you can deny that is born out of the fact you have a top coach and a World Class front row. Take parts of that away and it will become a far bigger struggle for the rest of the ‘average to good’ superleague players (Makinson aside actually as he showed just how good he is in the test series)to dominate the way they are. Do you not think there’s a chance that in a couple of seasons Holbrook, Roby and Thompson will not be around anymore?

No desperation here, just realism!

The only desperation here is you pretending that rugby league only started in 1996. Come out of the bitter barn, you might enjoy it, despite remaining forever in our shadow.

Rugby League has been in existence for 125 years, superleague for 23 years. So if AS108 wants to argue take the percentages.
SL/RL =18.5%

If we take 18.5% of the superleague years that is equivalent of just over 4 years.

I wonder who has been the most successful clubs in the last four years of that era?

And just to add, since Superleague went to a fixed salary cap Leeds and Wigan have been the dominant forces in the game.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

Won 50 years ago? We're the current champions and were when Maguire was poached, you idiot!
