Had Burgess, Gildart, Williams, Farrell, Lockers etc been coached by Holbrook in a side as dominant as Saints have been then clearly their form would be better.
Williams vs Fages is probably the ideal case in point. Yes his form hasn’t been great, yes you could probably say Fages has had a better season then him in relative terms (to their ability) but had Williams been playing on the back of Thompson, Roby and Walmsley all season then it would’ve been carnage, total and utter carnage in comparison to what the ‘solid’ Fages brings.
LMS is playing better than Locky, sad to say as I’m Locky’s biggest fan but age has caught up with him.
Again I’m not slating Farrell but I don’t think he has hit the heights since he lost his England shirt. Good player but again at the moment i’d go with both Saints lads over him.
Tough to say as I love both players and detest Saints but at the moment they are light years ahead in nearly every department.
I am also a little shocked at how underrated Fages is. Much more consistent than Williams. When he is on I don’t doubt Williams is superior but sadly those “on” days are few and far between.
