Interesting article about George Burgess perhaps/probably leaving his brothers for another team.

The bit at the bottom is the best bit, where he mentions Bradford (despite them saying we're a SL club).

We've ALL had that dream, I think.

They'll be staying down under until they can't hack the NRL anymore methinks.

Even then it would take mega money to entice any of the Burgii back. George will probably end up at Brisbane if he doesn't do a deal with Souths!

It would be nice if they could come home for their last year or two. But as with poor Leon Pryce, if you leave it so long that you're body is knackered then even a Bradford hero gets short shrift from the terraces.

Writing was on the wall when Hood sold Sam. They won't be back.

Hood didn't sell Sam, Russel Crowe met him on a wintry wet day and sold him the dream of being a superstar in the Aus sunshine in a top NRL side with lifestyle, car and money to match. It was not a tough call and whilst I am hardly Hood's biggest fan (does he have any?) on this one he had as much influence as my gerbil (and I don't have a gerbil).

He did. He had 18 months on his deal and was sold for less than half of his value.

Sam wanted to go though. He'd dreamed of playing in Aussie, or so he said.

Again, I'm not a spokesperson or apologist for our former chairman, but the usual factors apply when a player wants away. Yes, we could have stood on our dignity and told him that, legally, he was obliged to remain and must stay and fulfil his signed contract, but to what end? That he went through the motions for 18 months and then left, out of contract, for no fee. I'm sorry but that makes no sense.

Thought it was case that he had a get out clause, meaning he could leave immediately and for free, if a NRL club came in for him, which his agent Mr Caisley made Souths aware of. We were lucky to get any transfer fee at all TBF.
