Again, I'm not a spokesperson or apologist for our former chairman, but the usual factors apply when a player wants away. Yes, we could have stood on our dignity and told him that, legally, he was obliged to remain and must stay and fulfil his signed contract, but to what end? That he went through the motions for 18 months and then left, out of contract, for no fee. I'm sorry but that makes no sense.
Thought it was case that he had a get out clause, meaning he could leave immediately and for free, if a NRL club came in for him, which his agent Mr Caisley made Souths aware of. We were lucky to get any transfer fee at all TBF.
