Why would Bennett be looking at a half next season when he has Cody Walker playing in the best form of his career and established at No6 partnering Reynolds?
If Connor came to Souths he would play centre where Bennett plays him for England/Gt Britain. Note that Bennett has said that his preferred half backs for the upcoming Gt Britain tour are Williams / Widdop.
Incidentally today I will be at the Parramatta v Wests match at the opening of the new 30,000 capacity stadium in Sydney's west. The match has been sold out for weeks.

I'm not sure how true this story is, I'm sure Leeds were interested in Connor (Who wouldn't be), but no way would they bid 500k and I'm not sure we would turn it down, that's an insane amount of money for any rugby league player in the world.
I just hope we can keep Connor for as long as possible, as IMO he is one of the best players in SL, if anywhere I hope he goes to the NRL as I'd hate to play against him.

The thing is, what would we do with that money? We aren't desperate for cash, and it's not like football where we will go out and buy 2 or 3 players with the money. The fans would be up in arms if we sold him and didn't reinvest. It could go on the wages of a couple of marquee players, but are either of them likely to be as good as Connor? And then in a couple of years when those marquees have been and gone and Connor has just won the man of steel, then what?
He's our most marketable player and the one that we are trying to build a team around (along with Sneyd). Imo it's not even close to being enough.
I expect we will lose him to the NRL one day. But until then we should do everything to keep him.

To keep Jake , the Club will have to match his ambition and consistently, win and challenge for trophies. We were discussing him on Friday. I think he will end up in the NRL . If the overatted Williams can get a NRL contract, I’m sure Connor can !

Not sure how true this is as I couldn’t see AP rejecting £500K for any player we have, as Dave K said it’s an insane amount of money for RL.
IF Leeds want to start throwing that sort of money around id guess Salford would sell Hastings for half that amount and have plenty left to buy a couple of forwards.

I couldn’t bear Jake leaving If we sold him I’d feel worse than when we ‘sold Vaikona ‘ Selling Jake means we put our ambition cue on the rack Hopefully AP has enough ambition and cash to keep him

Why would they not bid £500k?
When Wigan were in deep trouble in 2006 that spent that amount on Stuart Fielden. Now Fielden was probably the best prop in SL at the time, but hardly the creative player (or goal kicker for that matter) that Connor is. Leeds also have pots of cash, so it’s well within their resources.
13 years down the line, £500k would be the opening bid. If he were to be sold it I think the figure should be closer to £750k. But unless we are in financial disarray, what do you do with that money?
